Is Your Oily Hair Driving You Crazy?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Louise Forrest So, you have oily hair, do you wonder what you are doing wrong? Have you heard that it is a hygiene issue and tried to resolve it by shampooing more frequently or with harsh shampoos? If you think that the shampoos you are buying in your local discount store are not harsh, you should think again. Most of these shampoos are not pH balanced, which makes it harder for your skin to restore its natural balance after cleansing. Not only that, the shampoos for oily hair that you get in this type of store are usually quite harsh, stripping your hair and scalp of essential natural oils. To resolve oily hair, it is actually necessary to leave some of the oils. Without this natural moisture, your scalp (like the rest of your skin) will over-produce sebum (oil) in an attempt to restore the moisture. Most people who have oily skin also have oily hair; teens are also particularly susceptible to oily hair and skin because of the rapid change in hormone levels. Fine haired people are also susceptible to oily hair because the diameter of each hair is much smaller so there is not as much of each hair to absorb the oil. Genetics often play a part in whether or not you have oily hair. You need to address your oily hair from a different angle. An angle that is much the opposite of the marketing and myths you hear regularly. First, you need to keep the above things in mind and understand that your oily hair is usually not your fault, I have to say usually because I cannot say that you are actually shampooing your hair and practicing general personal hygiene; if you are not, this should be your first step in controlling your oily hair. However, the vast majority of people with oily hair do practice daily personal hygiene. I cannot stress the importance of using a quality, professional shampoo which is pH balanced (preferably organic). You will probably get better results by using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner than you will otherwise. At the very least, choose a shampoo for normal hair; this is not hard when you are using professional products because they very seldom market a shampoo for oily hair. Okay, now that you understand the importance of good shampoo, you will need to purchase some magnesium sulfide. This natural mineral is being marketed worldwide under the name Epsom Salt. Pour cup of your shampoo into bowl. Now add 4 teaspoons of Epsom Salt to the shampoo and stir well. You will notice that the Epsom salt dissolves very quickly. Pour the mixture into a plastic bottle that has a sealable lid and you are ready to go! Shampoo with this, rather than straight shampoo. You can double the recipe if you would like, so that you do not have to make it as often. When you shampoo your hair (with any shampoo) you need to remember to rinse very well. When the detergent in shampoo is left on skin or scalp, it has a drying effect which takes you back to the vicious cycle of your body over producing oil to replace the lost moisture. Rinsing well should be a habit in your personal hygiene ritual. Another habit you need to start is conditioning only the ends of your hair which gives added moisture to the part of your hair with the least amount of moisture. Again, this will help your skin to begin regulation of oil production because it will not be compensating for dryness. The magnesium sulfide, or Epsom Salt, in the shampoo gently removes excess oil and toxins from the scalp, encouraging a balanced, healthy scalp. If you are leery about the moisturizing shampoo or the magnesium sulfide, test the concept on your face. Use a moisturizing organic cleanser which is pH balanced and add Epsom Salt to it in the palm of your hand; let the Epsom Salt dissolve. Massage the mixture over your entire face and rinse very well. You will find that your skin feels great and is less oily for much longer. It works the same way for your head because your scalp is simply another part of your skin. Coin Collecting - The Top 10 List

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Michael Russell Coin collecting. An associate of mine remembers receiving as a child a big paper bag of old US silver dollars, some going back as far as the late 1890s. Sometime between then and today he has misplaced that old paper bag. To this day he wonders if any of those coins might have been worth something. There is no arguing that coin collecting is one of the biggest and most expensive hobbies in the world. The price tags of some old coins would turn your hair grey. In this article we’re going to review the 10 most rare coins in existence. Wait until you see what some of these are going for. Starting at number 10, there are the “proof gold” coins. Today the mint strikes millions of these coins every year and sells them to collectors from all over the world. However in the 19th century the mint struck only a few thousand of these each year and only a handful of proof gold coins. These are very rare and very expensive and sell very well in good and bad market times. At number 9 we have early US gold coins struck between 1795 and 1834. These were minted in denominations of $2.50 $5 and $10. Today these coins are very rare in any condition and super rare in mint condition. Coming in at number 8 we have the Liberty Seated Dollars. These coins are said to be the most beautiful ever made and one of the rarest of the 19th century coins. Both circulation strikes and proofs are very rare. Hitting the chart at number 7 we have a very odd coin that was minted between 1875 and 1878. These were twenty cent pieces. Unfortunately the coin looked too much like a quarter to catch on with the public and there was no real commercial need for the denomination. Today they are highly prized collectors items. These coins today are very rare in top condition. Number 6 on the coin hit parade are the Barber half dollars. These were minted between 1892 and 1915. They are one of the coin markets most important issues. They are collected by both “date” and “type” collectors and are the rarest of the 20th century silver type issues. These are very rare coins and to find one in gem condition is a once in a lifetime occurrence. Midway up the chart at number 5 is the 1917 Type One Standing Liberty Quarter. This coin was made for only 2 years. The exposed breast of Miss Liberty caused such a commotion that they had to radically change the design midway through 1917. Since the 1916 is a 5 figure rarity (in the 10’s of thousands of dollars) this coin is essentially a one year issue. At number 4 are the Mercury Dimes. Even though this dime was minted between 1916 and 1945 proofs were made only between 1936 and 1942. Mercury dimes minted between 1940 and 1945 are actually reasonably priced and sell for about $50 a piece. The proofs are a little more expensive. Just 2 spots from the top at number 3 is the Walking Liberty half dollar. This is also one of the world’s most beautiful coins and extremely popular with coin buyers. These coins are very hard to find in mint condition. All five of the issues between 1941 and 1945 have made the all time rare coins price list. Falling just short of number 1 at number 2 is the Texas Commemorative Half Dollar. This is actually the number 1 commemorative coin on the all time rare coins price list. Between 1934 and 1938 about 150,000 of these coins were minted. Only about 60 to 80% of those have survived to this day and only 50% of those grade MS65 or better. So this is indeed not only an extremely rare coin but actually considered scarce. Finally coming in at number 1 is the Saint Gaudens. This $20 piece is probably the world’s most well known coin. It is one of the most beautiful coin designs in history. This is one of the few coins that didn’t drop in price during the 1980-1982 bear market. In a future article we’ll cover how coin collectors go about getting rare coins and where they can be found both on and off line. ——————————————————- Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Coin Collecting ——————————————————- Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell http://EzineArticles.com/?Coin-Collecting—The-Top-10-List&id=115854 buy generic carisoprodol buy carisoprodol onlineimgpaydaygif order soma online buy carisoprodol cheap online

Custom Packaging and Shrink Wrappings: An Important Role In Selling Your Product

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Gordon Petten When manufacturers first consider a product, they often discount the issue of packaging. They seem to think such decisions can wait until the product is ready for production. In many cases this may be true. However, some thought must go into packaging very early in the design process; because if a product requires custom packaging or shrink wrappings this could play a vital role in the budgeting and marketing of that product. Let us face it, as consumers we love custom packaging. Something unique and individual that helps pull us into the world of that product. And there is something strangely wonderful about shrink wrappings. It conveys that valuable message: This product was made for you and no one else. And ripping that shrink wrapping makes us truly take ownership of the product. However, as much as we as consumers may like these things, we as business people understand that custom packaging and even shrink wrappings bring with them unique costs that must be evaluated. Custom packaging may require the use of industrial designers, it may require extra rounds of testing; and shrinking wrappings involve an extra layer of costs which may not be required on all products. Custom packaging may also present storage and shipping problems. A custom package may not be as easy stacked on a warehouse floor, or as easily prepared for shipping. And although custom packaging often attracts consumers, it may do the opposite. For this reason, your product may need to go through focus group testing on the custom packaging alone. Another cost. But, on the other hand, we all know a square box can be dull; and we all know that products without shrink wrappings look “cheaper” to many consumers. So where does that leave us?It leaves us where we often find ourselves when faced with any business decision. It leaves us forced to weigh our options. However, we think there are series of questions you might consider which can help you weigh your options in smart and efficient manner. In regards to custom packaging, ask yourself these questions: Is your product unique? Does your product require some special understanding or explanation? Does your product appeal to an upscale market? If you answered “yes” to any or all of these questions, then we feel that custom packaging should be considered. Unique products, products which require special explanation, or upscale products can benefit from custom packaging. In regards to shrink wrappings, ask yourself these questions: Is the product perishable or viewed as perishable? Could handling the product by others easily damage it? And does cleanness or sterility play a role in the use of your product? Again, a “yes” answer to any of these questions means you should at least consider the use of shrink wrappings. We hope this brief article has helped you get a handle on some of the issues you need to confront when making packaging decisions. Custom packing and shrink wrappings can add value and appeal to your product, but they come with a unique set of costs. Only by properly examining your product and its customer base will you be able to determine if your product is worth this additional expense. Wedding Jitter and Cold Feet!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By Lorna Mclaren You are about to get married, tie the knot, jump the broom, make an honest man/woman out of someone else or any other of a number of ways to describe a wedding. Its no wonder that getting married is said to be one of the most stressful events in a person’s life and almost everyone suffers from last minute nerves, wedding jitters or extremely cold feet! The important thing is to keep these wedding jitters under control and not let them ruin your big day. Having a few nerves and jitters is perfectly normal and the adrenaline can actually help you cope with being the centre of attention if you are a little on the shy side. One of the best ways to help calm wedding jitters is to sit quietly, just before the service and, if need be, remind yourself exactly why you want to get married! Often the bride or groom will have a drink or two before the ceremony to help lessen their wedding jitters but don’t let this go too far. Too much liquor can make for a very forgettable day! It is nice for the bride-to-be to share a glass of champagne with some of her closest female friends while she is getting herself dressed and having her hair and make-up done. This can often relax her and create a celebration atmosphere which will dispel any serious wedding jitters or cold feet. I think that the main cause of wedding jitters is often the thoughts of something going wrong on the big day, rather than actually being worried about whether they are making the right decision. Although promising to share your life with someone is a big step once you get to this point you should be pretty certain that this is the right person. Preparation is always the key and if you are panicking about whether the rings are safe or if you will fluff your words then don’t let these wedding jitters get in the way of what is going to be a beautiful day. If you think about the worst that can happen for example the rings get lost then think of a solution, borrow someones, then the worry should ease off. There is so much emotion involved that fluffing your words can be almost inevitable and no-one actually notices! Whatever happens its your day and people will only remember the good bits. If things do go wrong everyone will pull together to fix it and in years to come you will look back and laugh. Relax and enjoy! Secured Money for Every Motive - Instant Secured Personal Loans

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Amanda_Thompson]Amanda Thompson Instant secured personal loans are the loans for the solving the immediate financial problems while achieving your goals or any other need. The best feature of such loans is the easy and quick approvals in presence of the collateral. Collateral acts as the security on the loan amount and allows the lenders to act more flexible towards the borrowers as compared to unsecured form of loans. This in-turn benefits the borrower. The instant secured personal loans accept the home of the borrower, real estate or any other asset with certain value as the collateral. Some people hesitate in going for such loans as they feel that they have to give away the possession of their asset for such loans and can no more use their asset till the loan is repaid. But this is only a myth as only the title for the collateral passes to the lender and not the possession till you make any default in repaying the loan amount. Instant secured personal loans fits for almost any purpose of the borrowers including traveling to exotic locations or getting your business ideas to reality or if you wish to buy your new car or boat, expenses on education , wedding , health etc. These loans are available to people with bad credit score or with people already carrying too many debts with them. You can also use the loan amount to clearing such debts through consolidation of debts. The amount which you can borrow under an instant secured personal loan varies from 5000 to 75000. The borrower must be careful here while applying for a particular amount as borrowing bigger amounts may be easy but it can lead to defaults and loss of collateral. Instant secured personal loans are for longer periods ensuring smaller repayments. Depending upon the amount borrowed you can take such loans for 5 to 30 years. The loans lenders for an instant secured personal loan are easily available through the online websites. You can simply log on to these websites and get free quotes which you can easily compare with the help of online comparison tools and select the once which suits your circumstances both before and after taking the loan i.e. at the time of repayments. The Ancient Wisdom of Matchmaking & Loving Y.O.U.

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Zannah Hackett Know Thyself Plato Isnt it curious how just about everything in this material world comes with an operating manual; one specifically addressing the care and maintenance of its make, model and style? I dont care if its a computer, a car, a refrigerator or a package of flower seeds, we always seem to get a description in ten or more languages of how to operate or nurture the item of concern. Well, human beings also require some operating instructions if we are to understand one another. All too often we judge based on our own design rather than acknowledging that which stands before us. Its obvious that we come in many shapes, sizes, and nationalities. These obvious characteristics offer us some clues as to what make, model and style we are. If we choose to investigate further, one can get even closer to understanding those that walk along side us. To date, no two of us are alike. At least not yet. Given this reality, wouldnt it be great to know what you were looking at and what its identity means in terms of how it operates. The term operates when applied to humans addresses how we think, move, and feel. Wouldnt it be great to know if someone was a suitable partner on sight? Wouldnt it be wonderful to know how to bring out the best in a relationship, based on obvious visual clues? Think about it. We know that a cactus doesnt grow well in the forest. Wouldnt it be great to know that some of us dont grow well in the forest either while others do? Knowing who we are allows us the opportunity to genuinely love ourselves and those around us. It grants us the privilege of making fewer mistakes and recognizing which path or direction is in our best interest. Getting to know ourselves takes some serious study. In fact, philosophers, anthropologists, and psychologists have made careers out of studying the human condition. Consequently, there are thousands of typing systems and evaluative theories categorizing our humanness; all in an effort to catch a glimpse of who we are and where we fit into this wondrous tapestry of life. And while all of these systems are good and helpful, we rarely get a clear picture by simply visually taking notes of ones mode of operandi. The reason for this is because we do not have a general understanding of the language that affords us this gift of comprehension. The language I am speaking of is the same language that Kings and Queens used to use in planning healthy marriages for their successors. It is older than the I Ching, the Bible and Astrology. It is thought to be at least 3000 years old and unfortunately has only made it into the hands of the elitist until now. It is called the language or rather the Knowledge of Y.O.U. (your own understanding). It reveals how we spend our energy and where we should spend it based on our style and refinement. It is very revealing in describing why it is we do the things the way we do and the way in which we are wired slightly differently when it comes to reasoning. It also further describes how polarity affects us and the importance of responding to magnetic influences. All of this has proven to be very helpful in creating perfect relationships with family, friends, acquaintances and mates. Just imagine if you could recognize your perfect mate on sight? You could if you had the knowledge. Knowledge is power and this knowledge is the power of Y.O.U. . I came across this information in 1995. I had just ended a 20 year marriage and felt the need to reinvent myself. Since all of my adult life had been spent in this marriage, I still subscribed to an identity that was now null and void. Consequently, I set out on a quest for self-knowledge. The first thing I realized was that I needed to get really clear about my capabilities and my limitations as they applied to the vehicle that served as home for my spirit. Yes, my body of the flesh was essentially the chosen vehicle for the remainder of my lifes journey and I needed to be very strategic in deciding which direction to go with it. Now, not unlike the cactus and forest, I knew that I was not wired for camping. And while some of my dearest friends did it so well it still did not change the fact that I just dont grow in a campground and a cactus simply isnt designed to grow in the forest. You are no different. There are many things that we try as children to fit into and fail miserably at. This is because we are not honoring our vehicles operating instructions and worse yet, our parents didnt receive one with our arrival. The harsh reality is that we get all kinds of instructions for judging, valuing and complying with humanity as it relates to love, life, and religion but nothing in the way of objective practical human identification and application. What does this mean? This means that we have lost our sensibilities when it comes to common sense. Just for a minute, imagine an early prehistoric caveman walking the earth; one of a few human inhabitants. How does he protect himself? How does he assess his needs for survival? How does he reason when there is not yet an intricate verbal language from which to express himself? The answer to all of these questions and more is, He manages to survive by tuning into the obvious. The obvious is something that has been lost over centuries. It is that which blatantly stares us in the face but goes seemingly unnoticed. It has become masked, muffled, diluted, embroidered upon, distorted, contrived, reformed, repackaged and marketed to the masses; so much so that common sense in its original debut has essentially mutated. What kind of repercussion does this de-evolution produce? It produces confusion. We know longer know what we are looking at but instead subscribe to what we are being sold. We no longer know the truth even when it stands before us in all its obvious glory. Now the final question is what is this glory? The glory is the knowledge of Y.O.U., knowing thyself. We are really a very simple lot. In fact I like to think of us as a parking lot on an auto dealers property. Welcome to Earth Autos. Each one of us exemplifies an automobile with certain features and options. Jaguars arent designed to go up the side of mountains like a Jeep with four-wheel drive and many of us are not designed to go camping. The wonderful thing about this ancient language is that each car or rather individual possesses certain strengths and weaknesses. Some go really fast and others are designed to cruise. If we come to learn that lions roar and cats meow, then we will likely quit trying to change the lion into a kitty. We know when we look at a Lion that hes not going to meow. We know that when we get into a Jaguar we arent going to traverse sand dunes. Each of us can be described in detail by our very obvious features. Our hair color, skin tones, eye color, physique, skin texture, mannerisms and dress all reveal who we are and what direction we are designed to move in. Unfortunately, we have not been taught this language. Thus, we are the only objects on the face the Earth without an objective universal descriptive language. We have many psychological subjective typing systems and astrological devices that require questionnaires and inquiries as to when and where we were born and how we grew up and who influenced our lives. But rarely are we seen and accepted at face value. When we see a Ford Mustang GT, we know its a Ford Mustang Gt. We dont concern ourselves with where or when it was manufactured or if it had a tragic past (unless of course we are wanting buy it). We are looking for the car that can perform according to its design and providing it has been well maintained, the likelihood of that happening is good. Humans are no different. I guess one of the reasons this knowledge has proven to be so helpful is that it insists I accept everyone in this instant. It pleads with me to love myself and those around me. It also reaffirms that each of us is designed to be with someone. We have physical laws that support this theory and when we tamper with Mother Nature we only serve to undermine our own significance. The irony in all of it is that its the fear of insignificance that man fears most, yet we do very little to understand the self that transports the fear. Once one masters the language, the need to spend precious energy analyzing can better be used for promoting ones significance. Since this promotional task requires energy or as some prefer to call it, Life Force, we need to take responsibility for managing it. I like to think that our life force as being similar to a glass of water. According to science we are 70-90% water. We expend this energy or become dehydrated during travel on lifes journey. When we cling to things, over analyze, or scatter ourselves about frenetically, we essentially expedite diminishing the very life force that could be used in finding the love of our life. The earlier we find this love, the sooner we rise to our full potential. This potential is accessible if we come to understand that which is closest to our creator. That would be thyself. Outside of you and your God, who and what is the love of your life? When you know thyself, the answer is easy. Its this answer that holds the key to happiness. Its the process of putting forth the effort to find it that brings you the answer. For me to give you the answer would rob you of the gift. Thus, I ask that you begin by Loving Y.O.U. By simply doing this, you will have the understanding that allows you to embrace your the differences of others effortlessly. How to Do a Successful Exhibit

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By James Monahan What makes exhibits successful is who are behind the exhibits. These are the people who are aware of the do’s and don’ts in an exhibit. Some exhibitors tend to be oblivious of the little things that they should consider during their exhibits. These little things actually help a lot in the success of such exhibits. These following tips will surely make the most of your exhibit: “Stand up straight” Stand and do not sit. Always be attentive. Give me that smart look. “Always smile” They say smiling makes you younger and it also makes your aura good. If you always bring smiles with you, people will certainly approach you. You should look pleasing to every person that you will be interacting with. “No drinking, smoking and eating in the exhibit” Business is business. You did not come to a social gathering. “Chewing gum is not allowed” When chewing gum, visitors tend to be distracted that interrupts their concentration that might lead to lost sale. “Don’t be offensive” Making fun of your visitors will not help the exhibit. Do not offend other people of their race or their gender. “Have clean hands” You hands should be always clean. You use your hands in meeting different people; handshaking is one important factor in the business. “Know what you are really doing” Conversing with people would bring you to the edge. You should know what you are talking about. The credibility of your company is on the line, so it behooves you to know what you know, know what you don’t know and find out where the answers are in between. “Say so if you don’t know” Do not fool yourself, if you really don’t know the answer, search for the answer and tell it to the visitor in the quickest time possible. “Do eye to eye contact when talking” Some people don’t know how to talk to people. Eye to eye contact means paying attention to the visitor. Remember to look at the badge of the person and use his or her name in you conversation. “Cell phone in the booth is a big NO NO” Using your cell phone might be a nuisance in the exhibit. Visitors would be irritated when most of your time is spent with your phone. “Avoid barricades” The traffic in your exhibit will increase by 25% if you will leave the center open. “Do not stack give-aways on tables” Piling up give-aways on the counters will most likely pull towards you bag-stuffers. It would be much better if you will display limited give-aways to generate interest and avoid the grab-and-run effect. “Do not utter the words “May I help you?” Visitors usually respond unlikely when ask such like this. The most common reply you would get is “No, just browsing.” It will be more probable to ask your attendees on how they are familiar with your displays or what made him see your product. “Avoid acting as a security guard” Do not stand in the exhibit as if looking like a secret service officer protecting the displays. It more congruous to stand 4 feet from your displays to prevent hesitations from your visitors to look at your products. Trade Show Giveaways - Tips for Your Promotional Products

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By Rick Sheldon Of course, giving away promotional items is a must at any trade show booth. Giving away and receiving cool products are part of the experience of attending and participating in the event. Youre there to network and build contacts by interacting with your prospective customers. Giving them useful, valuable, and interesting items helps them to remember your business. Beyond this simple reason, there are countless others that promotionals help you with as well. Products generate traffic toward your booth. People look for the most interesting gifts. They notice the items that other attendees carry. When you offer something unique, people will flock to your space to receive what you are donating. This equals opportunities for introduction, explanation of your company, and the beginning of new client relationships. These products also assist in the establishment of customer goodwill and loyalty regarding your company. Some gifts are appreciated more than others, and putting a little extra thought and care into one can create a connection between your potential clients and you. Yes, its true. Some items work better than others do. However, the approach does not have to entail lots of expense. Staying with a general theme or tying into your business message or slogan can be done easily by selecting a simple gift but planning the packaging, colors, or text effectively. There is no one perfect item to hand out. Tap into your creativity. You will want to select some product that invites discussion or curiosity, but again relates back to what it is you actually do. A health and fitness center may donate sport water bottles. And, a home building company may give out yard sticks or screwdrivers. One of the easiest, safest, most timeless items for giveaways at tradeshows is a pen. First of all, they are inexpensive. Moreover, they tend to acquire a lot of miles. One person almost never holds onto one for its entire life. They are passed along, left at random places, and used by people several times removed from the original situation. They assist in the development of a brand and help to increase its recognition. Nevertheless, if your budget allows for a more in a promotional giveaway, by all means do so. While the size and value of the gift are generally unimportant compared to the thought and creativity behind it, there are guidelines for spending at trade shows. Know that the general rule is to spend between $1 and $5 per person. And, though you may not wish to adopt this technique, some people do come prepared with two sets of offerings. One is to be given away to all passers-by at the trade show. The other is for serious inquiries that seem to be true prospects. To put it another way, anyone who stops by your booth to receive the gift or pick up a brochure should be considered a lead. It is wise to strive to create an impression. Offer your business card, introduce yourself, and encourage them to look around. The free product will help them to remember you, and customers will able to receive something of quality in the amount of $1 to $5 per person. While you wont make a sale from every single individual, some of these people will definitely be back for further discussion and to do business. You will reach a portion of them. On the other hand, you will be faced with more serious leads. You can distinguish these characters by their expression of the need for your products or services. In addition, they will also have the resources to make a sale or the power to influence those that make the decisions. In this situation, some opt for offering an upgraded product that is the range of between $7 and $10 per person. Here, it is generally commonplace to let the recipient know that they are being given something special, something that not everyone else is. You can tell the person that you give an additional product to those that you really hope to be working with in the future. Express your gratitude of their interest and let the gift be a further incentive for them to return. They will surely get the idea that you have enjoyed meeting them and value any prospective business that has been inspired. In the end, you will probably be very glad that you invested the $10, and most likely you will experience the benefits. These trade show tips will hopefully be of assistance to you in the future. Keep them in mind as you plan your next successful promotional venture. By A Smith Body fat level is an important aspect of weight control. You need to maintain low body fat levels to keep your body weight in control. Excess body fat may lead to various diseases including heart diseases. Hence it is necessary to carry out a Body Comparison Analysis regularly. One important reason to measure body fat is because it is different to body weight. Losing body weight does not necessarily mean that you have lost body fat because it measures everything that constitutes the human body and not just the fat. Someone who looks relatively trim may in fact have high levels of body fat. So it is important to lose body fat as part of your weight loss plan. Body fat is measured in percentage terms using various techniques. Some of the common techniques of measuring body fat level include body fat scales, hydrodensitometry, and skinfold calipers measurement. These have been explained below: Body fat scales: In this method, a low current is passed through your body. The resistance offered to the passage of this current depends on your body fat level. Hydrodensitometry weighing: Also known as underwater weighing or hydrostatic weighing, this method measures your body fat level by your body volume and body weight in water. Your weight is first measured outside water and then you are immersed in a pool of water. Your weight is measured under water. Your weight in water depends on the amount of fat in your body. The more the fat content of your body, the lesser your weight under water. Your body volume is measured and a formula is used to measure you body fat level. Skinfold calipers: The skinfold calipers measurement is also kown as Anthropometry. In this method, pressure is applied on your skin and the underlying tissue using calipers. Measurements are taken at various locations on the body and a mathematical formula is used to find your body fat level. There are also less scientific, but some would say plausible way, to measure body fat. By seeing how your clothes fit every week or two.
